People love to talk about “2016 was such a great time in music” and they are right, but looking at it now, A Seat At The Table is not always mentioned in the same breath; and that’s crazy, since this album is literally one of the best albums that dropped that year, so why do people not mention it more?

The writing for the album started as early as 2008, with recordings taking place between 2013 and 2016, and it shows, because besides it being one of the most therapeutic albums to write to, let alone create to, that might be a byproduct of her own creative process, which was very personal, to a point where the songs were written to piano as she structured them on her own before the producers came into the picture.
